The OPT4003DNPQ1EVM evaluation module (EVM) is a platform for evaluating the performance of the OPT4003-Q1 dual-channel (visible and infrared), automotive, high-speed, high-precision, digital ambient light sensor. The OPT4003-Q1 device is designed for use in various lighting conditions, as well as, behind cover materials.
The OPT4003DNPQ1EVM consists of two printed circuit boards (PCBs). The first is the OPTMBEVM board that contains a USB interface to communicate with a computer running a graphical user interface (GUI) evaluation software, a socket for plugging in a coupon board and a MSP430™ microcontroller that acts as a bridge between the PC and the device plugged into the socket. This board also provides power to the light sensor and sends and receives appropriate digital signals between the light sensor and the PC. The second board is the OPT4003-Q1 coupon board, which contains the OPT4003-Q1 and a decoupling capacitor. The coupon board plugs into the motherboard allowing quick evaluation using the GUI software when plugged in and allows the coupon to be removed for direct access to the device pins for evaluation in your system.
