This telecom reference design features a highly effective 100-W, 4-switch buck-boost. The converter allows to drive a 32-V RF LDMOS out of a wide input range 17 V to 57 V with peak efficiency 98% plus. An input filter is implemented to reduce conducted emissions to source. Additionally, a spread spectrum function and/or fixed PWM mode can be activated through a jumper. Lastly, the switching frequency can be synchronized by base station oven oscillator (30.72 MHz/128 = 240 kHz) to improve radio frequency performance.
Features
- The highest efficiency of up to 98.7% due to synchronous rectification in both operating modes
- A 4-switch buck boost topology supports step up and step down with a single inductor
- A transient response of greater than 2% for 50% load change
