Zigbee
Robust, low-power mesh networks for smart homes, building automation, and more.
What is Zigbee?
Zigbee® is a standards-based wireless mesh network used widely in building automation, lighting, smart city, medical and asset tracking. Our scalable Zigbee portfolio offers the lowest power mesh solutions enabling multi-year coin cell use or battery-less operation across industrial temperatures. We have been a member of the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA) for more than 10 years. Through Z-Stack and ZBOSS we provide robust stack delivery with the latest standards.

Zigbee software protocol stack
CC2340 now supports Zigbee® through ZBOSS®, a software protocol stack that helps overcome challenges in creating a robust and reliable wireless mesh network. Developed by DSR, ZBOSS is cross platform compatible which means porting between devices requires minimum effort, even across silicon vendors. With options to operate devices as a Monolithic architecture, Network Co-processor (NCP) architecture, or a Split MAC architecture, ZBOSS is suitable for implementation in a wide array of configurations such as end devices, routers, and gateways. The stack provides networking capabilities for most challenging applications such as smart home automation, energy management, lighting, and security.
Ultra-low power Zigbee nodes
Zigbee green power is a feature included in the Zigbee 3.0 specification, allowing for ultra-low power energy harvesting devices to operate on Zigbee networks. By reducing packet length, round-trips, connection re-discovery, and on network time, the power consumption of an already energy efficient device such as CC2340 is greatly reduced. In doing so, devices can be powered entirely by energy harvesters, removing the need for battery maintenance and truly wireless devices.
