Overview

This reference design implements a powered device (PD) to demonstrate Power over Data Lines (PoDL) in automotive applications. The design uses a DP83TG720S-Q1 1000MBit/s single-pair Ethernet (SPE) PHY with the option to switch to the DP83TC812S-Q1 SPE PHY for 100MBit/s operation. A coupling and decoupling network is used to split the data and power on the single-pair ethernet (SPE) cable.

  • Footprint compatible to our 100Base-T1 SPE PHY
  • This design features the implementation of the powered device to be powered via the single-pair ethernet cable
  • Automotive qualified filter network for power coupling and decoupling with reverse polarity protection
  • Implementation of PoDL according to the automotive market requirements by reducing cost and complexity of the implementation
